The idea for The Global Flourishing Catalyst Coalition (The GFCC) emerged from Nate Harding's experiences supporting research on field-building for equitable systems change with The Bridgespan Group, managing the Transforming Philanthropy Initiative with Social Impact Exchange, and discovering The Global Flourishing Study's inquiry of flourishing worldwide, the proposal to establish Global Flourishing Goals, and the growing discourse regarding the interdependence of human and environmental flourishing.
Nate Harding serves as Founder of The Global Flourishing Catalyst Coalition and is currently an MBA candidate, an Oxford Black Leaders Scholar, and a Co-Chair of the Social Impact Business Network at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Nate is a proud member of the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship's Michaelmas 2024 Impact Lab, Northern California Grantmakers' Rising Leaders 2023 Cohort, The Common Purpose Global Leaders Programme, altMBA52, and the Institute for Nonprofit Practice's Core Certificate in Social Impact Management & Leadership Class of 2024.
The GFCC prioritizes engagement with three audiences: (1) ambitious leaders and organizations focused specifically on global flourishing, including researchers, conferences, and global governance institutions; (2) field catalyst organizations addressing specific challenges and opportunities within global flourishing, and (3) individual and institutional philanthropists and investors who seek to fund global flourishing.
In alignment with Targeted Universalism & The Curb-Cut Effect, The GFCC prioritizes support for leaders facing vulnerable circumstances including people from and/or serving African, Latine, and Indigenous communities, people with disabilities, and womxn, particularly in countries listed on the United Nations' list of Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
Our flourishing is interdependent with the flourishing of the people with whom we collaborate. We seek to flourish as we support others to flourish. Please contact nate@global-flourishing.org if you'd like to collaborate.
The GFCC plays 4 "field catalyst" roles known to advance a field:
Using this field diagnostic tool, The GFCC developed an initial draft assessment of the global flourishing field to inform conversations with partners. Please email nate@global-flourishing.org if you would like to receive and discuss the draft assessment of the field.
Given field catalysts are significantly underfunded, The GFCC is developing a long-term fundraising campaign to establish a financial endowment that will fund both GFCC operations as well as philanthropic grants to field catalysts and other promising organizations and initiatives advancing field-level strategies in their fields to further global flourishing.
